Chrysalis Outreach Midwives is a team of two midwives working in partnership with Dr. Kate Gerster and the Evolve Group of Obstetricians, as well as many community partners to make sexual and reproductive health care accessible to pregnant folks experiencing homelessness, substance use, and mental health challenges. We are proficient in navigating the health system, child welfare, housing, and social services. Our care is holistic ensuring access to obstetrical and pediatric consults, on-site blood work, urine, and other tests, and we accompany people when needed to ultrasound and other appointments. We hold appointments at a variety of spaces in the community: shelters, drop-in centres, methadone clinics, homes, and other community spaces. Anywhere a client feels safe. Our appointments are booked same day or within a couple of days. We are happy to attend existing appointments with other workers to connect together.
In addition, we know that there are residents of Ontario who do not have OHIP (health insurance) and are not able to be cared for by the other midwifery practices. We prioritize these pregnant people too at any stage of pregnancy.
Our services are free even if you don’t have a health card!
